As a psychotherapist I am excited to offer teletherapy for residents throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.

I understand it’s not always easy to drop everything and get away. Thanks to teletherapy, making yourself a priority is a whole lot easier. You can enjoy the benefits of therapy wherever you are, at home, your office, your car, or anywhere within the States of North Carolina, South Carolina, or Virginia.

What is teletherapy?

Barbra Rogoff, LCSW Psychotherapist - teletherapy in North Carolina, South Carolina, or Virginia

Telehealth or telemedicine involves using electronic, interactive video, or data communications to deliver services to an individual when he/she is located at a different site than the provider.

Teletherapy (e-therapy, virtual therapy, or online therapy) involves the practice of psychotherapy delivery, diagnosis, consultation, treatment, transfer of medical data, and education using interactive, synchronous audio/video communications.

Who would benefit from teletherapy?

Most clients and concerns can benefit from teletherapy. Teletherapy is an ideal way to get the support you need without the hassle of going to an office. Busy schedules, transportation concerns, limited mobility, or a desire to be in the comfort of your own space are only a few reasons some find teletherapy beneficial. (Teletherapy is not advised for clients who are suicidal, highly dissociative, or have other severe mental illnesses.**)

Is teletherapy as good as face to face treatment?

Research has shown that teletherapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy, provided the client is appropriate for the service and the client and therapist are able to build a strong connection. It may take a few sessions to adjust to talking to a screen, after that most clients find they forget we’re not in person.
